Legend has it that a trio of wild, succulent, creative, entrepreneurial
women met one beautiful winter day in 2002 on Mayne Island (there
is no other kind, woman or day!) and decided to conjure up some
fun, frivolity, fantasy, and food for all who would come and play!
Thus FestivaLavender was born! The months
of labour and hatching has been an extra-ordinary journey with no
end in sight!
Come join us on our tiny island paradise August 14th, 2005 and
meet these legendary ladies! These three will be the ones wearing
Lavender in their hair, feet and ears! You will recognize them by
their huge smiles, always the life of the party and are the Lavender
leaders of the future!
Lavender has been known since the beginning of time as a herb of
countless positive medicinal, culinary and mystical qualities. It
is a member of the Mint family and over thirty species are now recognized.
Lavender is found wild in the Northern Hemisphere in areas with
a dry Mediterranean climate.
Lavender is currently enjoying a renaissance, and is no longer
only known in your maiden aunt's boudoir drawers! The most urbane
women (and men) know the relaxing healing elixir of Lavender.
Today you don't have to travel to Provence or Tuscany to delight
in the magic of Lavender! The Pacific Northwest of North America
has a plethora of Lavender farms in the Lower Mainland, the Gulf
Islands of British Columbia, and the Olympic Peninsula of Washington.

Unfortunately, in 2006 there will be no festival.
We had a great four years and hopefully we will
find more people willing to participate and continue with another
festival in a few years time.
